1/23/2024 0 Comments Cheat codes for high school daysWhat do we know about how memory works? What can teachers can do about it? If we had one page that distilled and summarised the research for the classroom, we asked, what would we like teachers to have access to, free, online and neatly packaged? Mark’s superb summary and collation of the research is here.Īs a starting point, beginning with the end in mind, we set ourselves the simple constraint of one page. Our team ( Helene, Mark, Tim, Ben, Lucy, Jackie and I) tried in the touchpaper working party to turn what we know from cognitive science into what teachers can do about it, to work out exactly what we still need to know. If cognitive scientists are correct, that ‘if nothing has been retained in long-term memory, nothing has been learned,’ this is a key issue for teachers. Touchpaper problem #7 is about retaining content in long-term memory. The models of memory and the mind in seminal texts like Dan Willingham’s Why Don’t Students Like School, the models of how we learn and the insights for instruction: this research has a lot to offer teachers. On first discovering cognitive science, Kris Boulton said it was “ like being given the cheat codes to intelligence”. – Chloe’s story starts after the Principal’s last event.I’ve asked before why students don’t remember what they’ve learned: how we design instruction, the curriculum and assessment plays a large part. – Jessie’s story starts after the Gala event. – Violet’s story starts 5 days after the rave. Check out our article about black coyotes to learn more about black coyotes and where you might see one. This may also have to do with coyotes breeding with domestic dogs and having odd colors. In other regions these colors are overpowered by a strong brown color that overpowers these colors and makes them look a more uniform color.Ĭoyotes also have some rare variations that will cause them to appear more white or more black depending on the genes. Their legs are more blond to brown color. Some foxes in other parts of the world have very similar color patterns to the coyote.Ī coyote will have a gray and black colored back with a white belly and front. What a Coyote Looks LikeĬoyotes have a little more random of color patterns but can be similar to fox colors. The kit fox lives in the western deserts and and are not very common to come across they are not likely to be confused with a coyote because they are blond sandy color. The fox can change colors with the seasons to better blend in with its surroundings. The Arctic fox reside in the Northern parts of the world as close to the arctic as you can get on land. These two fox are a lot more rare that the gray or red fox. So the two other types of fox is the kit fox and the Arctic fox. The red fox is a very iconic North American Animal. Red fox are more common fox used in the media and logos. The red fox feet are usually a darker brown or black color with a white front and belly on them. While most coyotes are similar in color there are at least four different kinds of fox in North America and across the world there are many more. Both are very common and do exist in the same areas. The gray fox is found more in the United States and Central America while the red fox is found in most of the United States and Canada. These two foxes are found through out North America. The two most common fox varieties are the red fox and the gray fox. 1/23/2024 0 Comments Doitnow geneAdditionally, because disease-resistance traits are hard to observe and there is a substantial potential risk of persistent infection, it is difficult for conventional breeding methods to work effectively. Livestock genetic resources have severely limited this process. More importantly, the traits selected by traditional breeding methods must have existed in the breeds. We should admit that traditional breeding has entered a bottleneck, especially in a rapidly growing population with limited resources. More than that, it is hard to achieve rapid improvement when some important economic properties have reached a certain level. Many of today’s superior agricultural animals have gone through decades of breeding (such as Landrace swine and Holstein cows). Firstly, a large population is needed to obtain a superior trait, and meanwhile, continuous selection and assortative mating are needed to stabilize this trait. Traditional breeding methods usually have shortcomings, such as long cycles, low efficiency, and prediction difficulty. Using modern genetic methods and molecular biology techniques to improve livestock disease-resistance and immune capacity could improve livestock production efficiency and promote the healthy development of the livestock industry. The disease-resistance traits have been considered the target traits for the genetic improvement of livestock. Controlling the level of these proteins can also achieve resistance to particular pathogen infection. On the other hand, more and more antivirus and host-receptor proteins have influenced infection by specific pathogens. Therefore, innate immune-related genes are the primary goals of disease-resistant breeding. It is also demonstrated that many innate immune traits are genetically controlled in livestock. The host’s innate immunity is the first line of defense against pathogen infection, and enhancing innate immunity can offer non-specific protection against widespread infection of pathogenic microorganisms. Many diseases are related to genetic factors. The interaction between pathogenic microorganisms and the host immune system affects disease infection and transmission. The disease-resistance of livestock has a direct bearing on their fitness, which significantly affects growth and reproduction. Therefore, when traditional methods prove ineffective, many researchers have turned to improving animal genomes to enhance their disease-resistance. The occurrence of diseases is not only related to livestock feeding and production environment but is also affected by genetic factors. Moreover, there is a lack of effective vaccines for some infectious diseases. However, long-term use of antibiotics causes environmental pollution and increases resistance to harmful microorganisms and aggravated infections. For a long time, vaccination and antibiotic feeding were the main strategies for disease control in livestock production. The global epidemics of avian flu, African swine fever, and other animal diseases have made us realize that these infectious livestock diseases badly affect animal health welfare, livestock production, social economy, and human health safety. Therefore, an efficient, healthy, and safe livestock farming industry is closely related to global food safety and public health security. Foods from these livestock provide a large quantity of energy and high-quality protein. Livestock products, such as meat, eggs, milk, and fur, are necessities of human life. Livestock production plays an essential role in current social life. It was posted on their official British YouTube channel, but it was since deleted. Ī reworked parody version, titled "I Like to Shake It, Shake It", was used in an April 2018 commercial for the dishwasher brand Fairy. The song appeared in the American Dad! episode "The Dentist's Wife". The song appeared in the films The Master of Disguise and Saving Silverman. Dele Fadele from NME noted that it featured "the mock-crazy ragga chatter dancing in the streets of New York with one trouser-leg rolled up." The video received heavy rotation on MTV Europe and was A-listed on Germany's VIVA. It was shot in New York City, with notable filming locations including Times Square and Flatbush. The accompanying music video for "I Like to Move It" was directed by Craig K. James Hamilton from the Record Mirror Dance Update declared it a "madly happy gruff ragga rapped bogle/soca-style leaper". Maria Jimenez from Music & Media remarked that the "boomin'" and "grinding scorcher is gaining much audience and radio support on this side of the ocean." Andy Beevers from Music Week rated the song four out of five, adding, "Originally released by Strictly Rhythm, this inspired combination of NY house rhythms and The Mad Stuntman's ragga rhymes has been generating plenty of interest on import." Another editor, Alan Jones, complimented it as a "fierce ragga house anthem". The magazine's David Bennun commented, "The result is ridiculously, naggingly, excruciatingly simple, as you will have no doubt come to realise by the time it turns up on the radio for the 19th time that day and you put your boot through the dial." Another editor, Sarra Manning, praised the song as "god-like genius". In his weekly UK chart commentary, James Masterton wrote, "Straight from nowhere come Reel 2 Real to become the first dance act for several months to charge straight into the Top 10 without a previous hit to their name." Melody Maker viewed it as "a sonic equivalent of the tango advert - equal parts irritant/wonderful pop song." His energy transforms what could have been a laid-back record into a rousing peak-hour anthem." Caroline Sullivan from The Guardian complimented its "growly catchiness". The Mad Stuntman toasts with predictable speed, cutting through the fairly thick groove with a raspy edge. The pulsing synths and sirens of the song made for an instant wall shaker." Larry Flick from Billboard noted that here, " Reggae beat sensibilities are woven around loose house and rave keyboards. In 2020, an editor from AllMusic stated that Reel 2 Real's "I Like to Move It" "still sounds as hot today as it did when it first came out in 1993. "I Like to Move It" was awarded with a gold record in Australia, France, Germany, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. In New Zealand, it was a top 20 hit, peaking at number 14. It remains the project's biggest and best-known hit, peaking at number-one on the singles chart in Belgium, France, Greece and the Netherlands. "I Like to Move It" was very successful on the charts across several continents. In 2021, it was reworked in a remix version by Tunisian DJ-producer duo, Outrage and Spanish DJ and vocalist Alejandro under the title, "Move It". The song was adapted in a Spanish version by Dominican merengue-house duo Sandy & Papo, as "Mueve, mueve", in 1995. At the second International Dance Awards in 1995, it won the award for Best Tune of the Year. On the Billboard Dance Club Play chart, it peaked at number eight. It was a number-one hit in Belgium, France, the Netherlands, and Zimbabwe. Released by Strictly Rhythm in 1993 as the second single from the project's debut album, Move It! (1994), it appeared on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1994, peaking at number 89, and reached number five on the UK Singles Chart the same year. " I Like to Move It" is a song by American solo project Reel 2 Real ( Erick Morillo), featuring ragga vocals by Trinidad and Tobago rapper The Mad Stuntman (Mark Quashie). How to Prepare for a Telehealth Appointment: Tips for Older Adults Telemedicine refers specifically to online doctor visits, while telehealth also includes health-related education services like diabetes management or nutrition courses and health-related training. Telehealth and telemedicine are two different types of online health care services. If a caregiver needs to ask the doctor a question, they can do so through an online health portal rather than waiting for and traveling to an in-person appointment. Telehealth can also help support family caregivers who are taking care of their loved ones either close by or from afar. For older adults, talking with their doctor online, through a phone, tablet, or other electronic device, can often be easier, faster, and less expensive than making a trip to an office. Telehealth may be particularly helpful for older adults with limited mobility and for those living in rural areas, as they will have the opportunity to see and talk with their doctor from their home. Telehealth is a service that uses video calling and other technologies to help you see your doctor or other health care provider from home instead of at a medical facility. Sometimes it just doesn't see any data to decode (although a Windows unRAR program finds it perfectly).Īlso, make sure to enclose the name or filepath of the or in single quotes if there are any spaces included: Sometimes you're working with a bad collection or RAR segments. Unrar x example.rar example_movie.mpgI've had hit-and-miss luck getting this program to work. I'm not sure if this causes a problem or not, so I just stop the process (ctrl-c) and change the resulting filename to what the program is expecting (in this case 'example_movie.mpg'): : RarExtractor will extract the contents of the RAR file. Choose RarExtractor Free: Choose RarExtractor Free from the list of available apps. Right-click the RAR file: Right-click the RAR file and select Open With from the context menu. Unrar x example.rar example.mpgIt's possible you'll get a message while it chews on the first RAR segment that says something like, "ignoring 'example_movie.mpg'." This just means the RAR file was encoded expecting to use the name 'example_movie.mpg' and you're telling it to output to a different name.
